1. What ever happened to customer service? As far as I'm concerned when I'm paying your working for ME.
2. Can anyone speak English any more?
3. Don't you think we should put ass holes in their place?
4. Haven't you had enough of the (spam)junk mail that comes across your computer?
5. Do you really think Rep. Tom DeLay is innocent and who really gives a damn?
6. How much of the money donated to the Red Cross will really be used? And what a bunch of crooks? (Look at their history).
7. Lets all thank the young workers coming into business who are undercutting the older workers who are more qualified for the positions. I really don't know who to blame but I'm leaning towards the employer.
8. Have you ever gone on a job interview and no one gets back to you? That rubs me the wrong way. Like my presence and time mean nothing and theirs means more.
9. What about computer tech's on the phone why can't they slow down for if I knew what I was doing I would now be calling.

Can someone tell me what the hell has happened in the United States? Can someone please speak english when I'm out and around so that I may understand them to some degree. I went to drop off a bed spread comforter at the cleaners and of course at that establishment no one understood me nor could speak English. I thought I was in India for a short moment. But as you know when you go to pay them they sure understand mathematics as though the graduated from Harvard school of business. Is this me or does everyone else notice this dilemma that has gotten worse in the United States. Our borders are not secure and among everything else this just pisses me off.

I'm just not a happy camper about this subject

Did you ever wake up one day and open the newspaper and see someone that if he was standing in front of you and no one was around; you would just smash him? Look at this article in the papers. I feel that why do we have to post this kind of crap about a supper model who just wants to throw away he life with drugs. I really don’t care if she does or not. I may sound cruel but she was given great looks and with that financial gains came and also with that the availability to buy drugs, and I’m suppose to feel sorry for he. Last year we were Drunk and Adulterous Country Club Couple, although the costume really would have been complete with a pool boy and secretary trailing us (to get the Adulterous part convincing enough). Eventually that evening (after I consumed a four-pack of those little bottles of cheap chardonnay) we evolved into Kennedys, because it's the same thing as DACCC and Holden's obsessed with the Kennedys.

In the edenic "realm of Freedom, Equality, Property, and Bentham", people choose freely whether to work and at what wage. Apparently, they also choose whether they want to die in the line of duty working, at least according to this new ILO report (careful, big PDF).According to the latest ILO estimates for accidents and diseases, there are globally about 2.2 million work-related deaths annually, which represents about a 10% increase on the estimate given in the Introductory Report to the XVIth World Congress on Safety and Health at Work in Vienna, 2002.China alone accounted for 477,000 of those while India chalked up 302,000. That's a lot of deaths. But even more striking perhaps is the fact that the advanced economy countries actually had more deaths than China or India as a share of the economically active population. Yes, the deadliest regions of the world to work in are the Middle East, the former Soviet countries, and Sub-Saharan Africa--which only barely beat out the advanced economy countries by one one-hundreth of a percentage point in their fatality rates.Of course it would be convenient to blame the employers for all these deaths. But as the Oracle of neoclassical economic theory clearly instructs us, these workers freely chose these jobs with full information about the risk of death and injury and according to their risk preference (or perhaps discounting the prevailing wage rate by their disutility of dying). The beauty of ou free society is that individuals get to choose their own fates. If people chose to work in risky jobs, it must reflect their preference for these jobs and their willinginess to sacrifice themselves on the altar of Capital. Because they chose freely, it would be wrong--nay, immoral--to blame employers or to--GASP!--request compensation from them for the fate of workers choosing to seek their own destiny.

Ah, Victor Hansen has written another great essay. Here is a taste.
Remember all of this about Hurricane Katrina?
The destruction was the result of global warming. And it was made worse by too many troops off in Iraq. Endemic racism and neglected environmental legislation were as toxic as flood. Military assets were unused due to incompetence or heartlessness. The neglect of the victims was an indictment of a crass and uncaring society.
But none of that ad hoc is an analysis or proved conclusive.
Yes, Hurricane Katrina revealed swearing, crying and stupefied public officials at all levels. Their initial paralysis may have endangered some lives.
But the media’s coverage turned out to be almost as disturbing as natural calamity and initial bureaucratic ineptness — in both the falsehood it spread and the truth it ignored. Political commentators proved more disturbing, seeking to turn death to partisan advantage
I have to say, as disgusted as I usually am with the government, this Katrina mess made me loathe them all the more.

Point of Interest:
Fact is, Bush drastically cut funding to levee repair projects and levee-related studies so he could spend more of our money in Iraq. And that was after a FEMA hurricane exercise in 2004 revealed the potential for major devastation in New Orleans. Bush just didn't make national preparedness a priority. So much for being proactive. After September 11th you would think that the government would be prepared for any disaster that would happen. As you will notice the Democrats have only been pointing fingers after the aftermath. Maybe if the Democrats put their boots on and helped rather then point fingers on errors we would be in a better position.

FEMA-What A JOKE

In the days before Hurricane Katrina hit land, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, FEMA Director Michael Brown and other top Homeland Security officials received e-mails on their blackberries warning that Katrina posed a dire threat to New Orleans and other areas. Yet one FEMA official tells NPR little was done.

Leo Bosner, an emergency management specialist at FEMA headquarters in Washington, D.C., is in charge of the unit that alerts officials of impending crises and manages the response. As early as Friday, Aug. 26, Bosner knew that Katrina could turn into a major emergency.
In daily e-mails -- known as National Situation Updates -- sent to Chertoff, Brown and others in the days before Katrina made landfall in the Gulf Coast, Bosner warned of its growing strength -- and of the particular danger the hurricane posed to New Orleans, much of which lies below sea level.
But Bosner says FEMA failed to organize the massive mobilization of National Guard troops and evacuation buses needed for a quick and effective relief response when Katrina struck. He says he and his colleagues at FEMA's D.C. headquarters were shocked by the lack of response.
"We could see all this going downhill," Bosner said, "but there was nothing we could do."
